VIVIOME

At-Home Testing Solutions
Timeline
Jan - June 2021
My role
UX & UI Designer

Project Brief

Viviome (later renamed to Vi2) is a service provided by a startup named Spatial Lab that offers a systematic solution to at-home health tests. With the help of a domestic testing device, the customers' household will have timely access to their health-related information such as microbiome, infection without hospital visits. My role as the  UX design intern was focused on building an interactive prototype of a mobile application that will work with their home-testing kits. The application will need to work with the testing device, and connect users with health professionals to look through test results.

DESIGN & RESEARCH PROCESS

Challenge I

I. What role does this application play in the product ecosystem?

II. Match the functions of the App with the need of intended customer groups.

III. Build simple yet effective interactions that allow for easy future iterations.

Competitive analysis let us see the spectrum of scenarios where Apps are used in conjunction with telehealth hardwares & services.

After more mindmapping sessions and user researches, we defined the scope of design. The App should help users to create account, receive analytical info, execute tests, and share the results.

Defining the application's scope helped frame its primary features.

Challenge II

I. What role does this application play in the product ecosystem?

II. What services should be provided to match the needs of our users?

III. How to make the interface suitable for future iterations?

With the larger frameworks set, we went in to specify the medical needs of users and reflect them in the design.
Through at-home tests, users are most interested to detect health risks of themselves and their family members and get suggestions from professionals. As a result, three major types of tests are included for the early product. Eventually, the Vi2 should grow into a platform that hosts many other tests from a variety of manufacturers.

Challenge III

I. What role does this application play in the product ecosystem?

II. What services should be provided to match the needs of our users?

III. How to make the interface suitable for future iterations?

As part of the plan, this application is expected to have many more iterations after my work is finished. New features or even entirely different approaches might be brought to the product. It was necessary to approach the design of this prototype with the idea of "change" in mind.

The UI Library is fully responsive so that anyone can make easy updates to the UI later.
